Addy's Couch: Welcome Jade Cary!

Addy: Welcome Jade!  I know you have a brand new book that came out yesterday,  Bella Rosa,  is there an element of domestic discipline in it?

Jade:  It is a romance suspense with a few spanking scenes. It has a nostalgia that brings you back to something you may have read in the 70s or 80s. I suppose it is like The Point of It All but with less spanking. The spanking scenes are very straight forward.

Addy: *grins broadly* I was reading The Baby-sitters Club and Sweet Valley High back in the 80s but I was a voracious reader even then.

Jade: There’s no need to gloat about how young you are, brat!

Addy: *suppresses a giggle* I am very intrigued by the idea of a romantic suspense story. It seems like a whole new world to me.  I have yet to read TPOIA but have heard that there are some fairly dark spots in the last chapter. Are the spankings done in a sexy kind of way or in a disciplinary fashion?

Jade: In Bella Rosa there are three scenes that serve for a discipline purpose are disciplinary, and one that is sexy. The Point of it All was a bit different. The heroes are different, and I suppose, so are the heroines. Diana Kenyon, in TPOIA, is in a different emotional place than Rowan, in Bella Rosa, is, so her reactions and behaviors are different. Same with the guys. Both are alphas, both are protectors, both are rescuers. But they come into the job as it relates to the heroine very differently, which again, makes their reactions to behaviors different.

Addy: That sounds very exciting! When you write do you usually stick to one main theme or do you branch out and try new things?

Jade: I usually lean towards mystery and romance/suspense because I am also a mainstream writer in those genres. Right now I am strictly M/F but never say never!

I tend to lean more toward a story that has nothing to do with spanking or a DD relationship, yet it comes up, and the characters react however they react. I have learned that in real-life, there are men out there who think nothing of swatting a deserving backside when it is warranted, and many do not ask permission first, which is where the non-con comes in--which is what I like to write. There are also the ladies, who don't seem too put out by such a man. Those are the people who will read our books.

Addy: I have yet to write anything other than M/F but I have branched out to reading F/F. I don’t know which one I like to read more.

Jade: I will read anything as long as the writing is good!

Addy: *laughs* I love that you write mainstream with a spanking. That should be a tag line!

Jade:  In my main stream work I actually included a couple of spanking threats and a ‘one-swatter’ on the bare. My agent and publisher did not even bar an eye. I think that is how I got into trouble with TPOIA. It reads like a mainstream novel and then there is that first spanking. If I left it there and just included threats or maybe some erotic spanking it would have been better. It confused people though the warning in the product description is very clear.

Addy: I think it’s funny that our readers will actually read our books but will not read the publisher’s warning.  Thank you so much for chatting with me!

Jade: Thank you for having me as a guest!

Here is an excerpt from Bella Rosa:

Both hands rested on his hips. “You’re running out of ‘Get Out Of Jail Free’ cards, lady. You do not want to disobey me again.” His voice was laced with barely-contained fury.

Her eyes got big, and her mouth screwed up in equal ire. “Disobey...?”

“Sit down,” he growled, closing in on her. She sat. “We’re done. We’re going home, where you stay glued ’til Monday.”

“The hell I...”

But she got no further. He grabbed her, lifted her up off the couch and dragged her down the hall so quickly she did not know what was happening until she was standing in the doorway to her office. Glass lay everywhere, and the wind blew through a window that was no longer there.

“Look. Take a look, Rowan.” He stood behind her and spoke into her ear. “He knows where you work. He saw us arrive, and he was probably at the hospital. This is not a game you’re equipped to play, Babe. This asshole is serious, and so am I. You will not leave your house again until Monday when we go to court. Understood?” When she did not answer, he turned her to face him. “Delaney?” His voice was shaking.

“Yes. All right.” Her hand had been covering her backside since he grabbed her up off the couch. Mortified at the thought, however brief, that he might be capable of such a thing, she gave her lower back a little scratch in case he wondered why her hand was back there, loath to give him an ounce of satisfaction that he had intimidated her.

He told Ryan to bring the SUV to the front of the building. He escorted Rowan down stairs to the parking lot and he handed Ryan the keys to the Corvette with orders to drive it back to Rowan’s house. Vince opened the passenger door to the SUV and got her inside. He closed the door, stomped around to the driver’s side and got in.

She looked out the passenger window, elbow against the door, chin resting on her fist.
“Eyes on me,” he said. When she did not move, he growled, “Now,” and her head jerked to face him.

“The way I see it, you have two choices: you can either act like a mature adult and cooperate, or you can act like a spoiled child and I can waste my time chasing after you, telling you to come in from the goddamned rain. Whatever you choose, I’m here until Monday. I’m not going away.”

She raised her hand in surrender, and turned back toward the window. “I’m sorry.” He turned the car over. “Apology accepted... again.”

This is the city.

Murder and violence is all in a day’s work for Lieutenant Vincent Girardi. But there is something about this murder that doesn’t add up. When a piece of paper with an address written on it is found at the crime scene, Vince believes that perhaps this victim wasn’t the intended target.

Dr. Rowan Delaney is biding her time. In less than a week she will give testimony that will rid her of a painful past once and for all, and grant her and her two children the freedom she has been seeking for years. When Lieutenant Vincent Girardi and his partner show up at her door to question her about the murdered woman across the street, and then suggest that she may have been the intended target, she refuses all help or protection, intending to fulfill her obligation in front of the Grand Jury without interference from anyone—including the handsome cop   darkening her doorstep.

But the Lieutenant has other plans. He is convinced the pretty doctor was the intended victim, and he is determined to find out why, starting with Rowan’s absentee husband, head of a notorious drug cartel. Vince is determined to see the woman and her children safe; Rowan is determined to start her life over—after her testimony.

Can Vince protect her without his feelings for her getting in the way? And can Rowan accept his care, along with a heavy dose of hubris and alpha dominance, without losing herself in the process?

And will their growing love be enough to save them from the evil that will not take no for an answer?

** THIS BOOK IS A ROMANCE/SUSPENSE THAT CONTAINS VIOLENCE AND EXPLICIT SEXUAL CONTENT WITHIN A LOVING RELATIONSHIP, INCLUDING DOMINATION AND THE NON-CONSENSUAL SPANKING OF AN ADULT FEMALE **

Now I am adding another story to my tbr list instead of just one. Both stories sound wonderful. (I am already reading To Love a Woman)
I will start with Bella Rosa first, because I love the cover, and her excerpt was very enjoyable.
