I have Dinah McLeod sharing a story about her newest release A Father for Nicholas!
Dinah: My husband really likes the game Dirty Santa. You know, where you wrap presents in a weird way to make people think they’re getting something awesome when there’s like a pack of tic tacs in the box? Well, you know what I mean. Growing up, I’d never heard of “Dirty Santa”. Totally sheltered, right? When my husband explained it to me, I thought it seemed kind of mean, trying to use presents to trick people. I mean, where’s the Christmas spirit in that, right? Like I said, he loves to do it and usually trips me up with at least one gift each year.
Addy: I am very familiar with 'Dirty Santa'. My family would wrap tiny gifts in multiple boxes! All in good fun and just a little naughty.
Dinah: One year, he put a pair of tennis shoes in a bath and body works bag. I got all excited when I saw the bag, and as you can probably imagine, gave him a not-nice look soon after. I’ve mellowed with age, and I’ve even gotten in on the fun, but that’s another story for another time.
Addy: I would LOVE to hear that second story! Tell me more about 'A Father for Nicholas'.
Dinah: I don’t have a dirty Santa for you this year, but a hero that will warm you hearts. Enter Adam, an EMT that visits sick kids in the hospital. He is just doing his job when he meets the feisty, stubborn Clara who makes judgments first and asks questions later. She shuns his every attempt at friendliness, and maybe another man would move on. But Adam senses something special underneath the hostility and looks deeper. Can he get Clara to trust him and give him her heart?
Addy: Ooooh! Adam sounds like just the Christmas wish Clara needs. I wish you much success with your newest release and have a very Merry Christmas!

I've also seen Dirty Santa played in groups, where you do get something nice, but then another person can "steal" your gift.
