Devon's Halloween Surprise

* This story takes place in modern day but supernatural creatures such as witches, werewolves, and vampires are out in public –created from characters in Devon's Discipline*

Devon Dawson tapped her foot on the floor as her best friend turned to the full length mirror for the third time. They were at ‘Hallowed Fashions’, the largest costume shop in the area and outside their college campus.

“I think it’s fucking hysterical if I dress up as Little Red Riding Hood. You know?” Lucy Pratt tucked her long blond ringlets behind her ears and pulled the strings tighter.

The irony of the situation would be lost on anyone else passing by. “I have an idea for who could be the big wolf.” She snorted at her own joke. “Your boyfriend wouldn't even need a costume!”

“Josh is my mate and third in command of the pack I belong to. Talk about him with respect.”

“I didn't mean what I said.”  Devon sighed as the tall werewolf shimmied out of the costume and slid it back onto the hanger.

“You’re just mad your teacher isn’t into frat parties.” Lucy snorted. “I’m sure there will be a ton of freshman there ready to fawn over him.

“It’s bad enough to see them all giddy in class so I’m glad he’s not.” She twirled her dark hair up into a messy bun and secured it.

“You sound a bit jealous?” Lucy raised an eyebrow.

“Whatever.”

“I just want you to remember looks can be highly deceiving.” Lucy flipped a stray hair out of her face. “I’m not impressed some older creep had his hands on you.”

“Pot meet kettle, kettle meet pot,” she said dryly. “He didn’t have them on me in a sexy way.”

”I have good instincts about people.” Her friend raised both eyebrows. “You know from experience.”

“Professor Matthews is helping me get myself back together.” Devon huffed. She could only imagine the reaction to the physical discipline via spanking she had been receiving.

“Okay, okay.” A quick smile flitted across Lucy’s lips. “Hey! For another dose of irony why don’t you go as one of the Macbeth witches?”

“Sure! Then I can dress like a hag and run around saying, ‘Boil boil, toil and trouble.’ Not.” She dabbled in witchcraft but no one ever paid attention even though she openly wore a pentacle charm around her neck.

“You don’t have to dress like a hag. The school is putting on the re-vamped version with updated costumes and easy to understand non-Shakespearian speak.”

“What? I should sneak backstage and ‘borrow’ a costume?” Devon snorted. “I’ll find something else.”

“Hey! Your idea is even better than mine.” Lucy walked the hood and basket up to the register.

“You can’t possibly think this is sane.” Devon followed now formulating a plan. Can I actually borrow it without anyone noticing?

“Meet me in the theater in an hour.” Lucy accepted the receipt and headed out.

“Yeah, famous last words.” They left the store in unison but parted to hit one last class for the day.  She was always the one to get into trouble. How could they pull this off?

Devon perched motionless on the stage and glanced up at the clock. Twenty minutes past the hour and still no sign of her friend. A pile of lace, satin, and ruffles landed in Devon’s lap and she glanced up to see Lucy with a giant smile on her face. “Huh?”

“I am so stealthy.” Her friend winked and pulled her to her feet.

“Do you know how much trouble we could get in?”

“We only get into trouble if we’re caught. Come on, let’s get out of here.”

Devon followed in silence until they reached the main walkway. “How do you even know if it will fit me?”

“You are such a downer today! It will fit, I’m on the costume committee, trust me.”

“Lucy, you are incredible.” She shifted the dress in her arms and continued up the path. All I need is accessories!

The night of the party arrived. Devon had bought a cute little broom made from real twigs and a pointed hat. The dress fit like a glove and played up her assets. Unfortunately she spent most of the evening nursing one red solo cup and dodging frat boys. Lucy had disappeared earlier into the sea of cups and bodies leaving her to make fun by herself.

Devon ducked under the arms of a pair of two large jock looking guys. “One for the witch!” They shouted in unison and dumped their drinks over her head.

“Gods!”  She was mortified and sopping wet! How would she ever be able to get the costume clean? She frantically ran up the stairs to search for a bathroom. An arm suddenly shot out of one of the doors and grabbed her inside. “Get your hands off me!”

Professor Matthews released her arm. “Don’t wreck school property.” His dark hair appeared black in the dimly lit room but those blue violet eyes sparkled like they had a light of their own.

“What?” She snipped now confused as to why he was there.

“You carelessly dumped alcohol all over your stolen costume.”

“I rented this from the shop down the road.” She looked down at the stains across the bodice and back up.

“You told me last week you would never lie to me again and yet you stand there and blatantly do it.” Matthews shook his head.

“You automatically assumed I took this fabulous getup when-“An amethyst flame flickered dead center in his iris and she forgot the rest of her made up story.

“Two lies in a row?” He crossed his arms over his chest.  “I guess your wolf friend didn’t tell you I’m the one running the theater production?”

Devon felt like a bucket of ice water had been thrown over her. I’m going to kill Lucy! “No, I missed the memo.”

“This is the last chance to change your story.”

“Why are you even here?”

“I don’t like being blown off without an explanation. I thought something had happened to you.” He cocked his head to the side and she remembered vaguely of her promise to meet him.

“I, uh, had a lot on my mind and I forgot.” She bit her lip. How did I forget I agreed to coffee tonight?

“So I see.”

“I only had one cup of goop juice. I had no intention of ruining this costume or getting drunk.” His hand wrapped tightly around her waist and he slid the tiny broomstick out of her hand with the other. Shit! He has that damn, ‘I’m going to spank you look on’!

“I am not interested in the alcohol. Do you understand you could get charged with theft of school property?”

“Can I get this dry cleaned and call it good?” She forced a smile up at him.

“No but your little prop gave me an idea.”  Matthews pointed to the beat-up looking thing in the corner of the room. “Go bend over the couch and raise your skirt.”

Devon wiped her forehead with the back of her hand then turned to sashay across the room. If she were about to get in trouble she might as well look good on her way there. She leaned down and realized the petticoat popped the skirt up automatically.

“Twigs sting like a whip when wielding right.” His voice was over her head now as he laid one hand on her back and slid her panties down.

“Your hand already stings like a whip!”

“Since I am punishing you for the same offense, I don’t believe you.”

Swish!

“Ouch!” She rose up on her heels and yelped. How could one swipe cause such a burn?

Matthews snapped the twigs against her in fast succession. Crack! Snip! Snap!

“Okay! I lied! I’m sorry.” Her thighs felt like flames licked across them.

“Your kleptomaniac actions alerted the design crew and they immediately informed me.” He sat down and guided her over his knees. “Your choice of company also confuses me.”

“I just wanted to have fun!” Devon groaned as his hand smacked against her butt. “I promise not to lie again!”

“You said as much last time.”

Smack. Smack. Smack. Smack. Smack.

“I’ll help out in the production! Please!” She kicked out her feet as the spanks landed in the same spot.

“Your responsibility is sorely lacking. Why would I allow you to?”

Smack! Smack! Smack!

“Give me a chance to prove it!” The tears poured down her cheeks. His hand is heavier than my damn mythical creatures’ binder!

“All right little miss dabbles at best. You can be the stage manager’s assistant. Practice is Monday,
Thursday, and Saturday nights. Miss one and I will do much worse than this.”

“What if I miss two?”

A flurry of taps hit against both cheeks and she screeched. “If you have more important things to do, I promise your bottom will be very sore and your sticky fingers will be reported.”

“Please no more!” Devon bucked. “It hurts.”

“Four more with the switch and we’re done.” Heat exploded against her left cheek then spread to her right. Matthews had brought the bundle down without pause.

“I’m sorry I stole the dress.” She bawled openly as he lifted her up into his arms.

“We can talk about it later.” He produced a tissue and handed it to her.

“I should have told you the truth.”

“No one is aware it is missing but I can make it easily known.” He wiped at her eyes. “I went to my office to see if you were there and saw a light on backstage.”

“Lucy grabbed the outfit for me.” She took several deep breaths to calm down.

“I found this sitting next to the rack of clothes.” He held up one of her notebooks. “Looks like your friend wanted you to get caught.”

Devon blinked and took it back. “I don’t understand.”

“Little red riding hood has some explaining to do.”

“Tell me about it.”

“I hope you remember your earlier statement when you cannot sit down tomorrow.” Matthews scooted her off his lap and stood up.

“Do I at least look fashionable?” She loved the way the corners of his mouth turned up as his eyes roamed over her outfit.

“You look adorable actually.” He took her hand in his. “Come on, let’s go.”

“I’m already here why should I leave?”

“If I find you good enough to eat-“He tugged her close against his chest. “-so do those idiots downstairs.”

“I don’t know what you are pretending to be. You’re not wearing a costume.” Devon felt her eyes grow wide as he leaned his head down and planted one single kiss against her neck.

“Mmmm.” He licked up to her neck and released her slowly. “I don’t need one.”
